Changes come to Big Brothers Big Sisters
A name change is on the horizon for Prince Albert’s Big Brothers Big Sisters.
“We are actually satelliting with Saskatoon — it’s going to happen on Nov. 1,” said Allyson Wall, spokeswoman with Big Brother Big Sisters.
She said it will be called, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Prince Albert, Satellite of Saskatoon.
“It means we are going to be an umbrella under Saskatoon, but all the funds raised still will stay in Prince Albert.”
She said moving the administrative duties to a larger city are nothing new for the charity.
“It’s something they are doing in the (United States) with Big Brothers Big Sisters, as well as Alberta. It just getting the smaller agencies to become part of the bigger agencies,” she said
It’s a step Saskatoon has already taken with North Battleford.
Nothing should change with the way things are done in Prince Albert, Wall said.
There will still be staff at the 11th Street East location and an advisory committee between the two locations to make sure things run smoothly.
“Just the name is basically changing, that’s about it,” she said.
