Local director of education to retire

Changes are coming for the Catholic school board.

Tim Jelinski, director of education of the Prince Albert Roman Catholic Separate School Division, is retiring at the end of July.

He said the school board has a succession plan in place.

“What we’re going to do is after the new year, (we’ll) advertise for the position of director of education and the board will select a new director out of those applicants,” he said.

It is something the school board has known is coming for a while and Jelinski said, it is just “that time” for him to leave.

“In Prince Albert, by the time I retire it will be … almost 28 years,” he said, about the length of time he was with the school division.

While he is looking forward to retirement, he said it is a little bittersweet.

“It’s been a wonderful experience. It’s been a great school division, a great board. I’ll move onto other things in retirement and the board will go forth as they always have.”

The job will be posted by the end of January.

They do not have anyone particular in mind to take his place, Jelinski said.
