A Time to Mourn – A Time to Change Silent March
Monday, December 6th
Gateway Mall at Noon
The Mad Hatter Theatre Company, Carlton Comprehensive High School will be doing two short drama presentations during the noon hour.
On December 6, 1989, 14 women at Polytechnique (University of Montreal) were massacred because they were women. This event was not an isolated act but a horrifying reflection of male violence in our society. Violence is a chosen response.
The hope of each generation of women is that we work together towards an environment of safety, equality and justice for all women. We must never forget the women murdered on December 6th and other women who suffer from male violence.
In conjunction with this event we will also remember local women who have lost their lives through domestic violence.
