FSIN pleased with Human Rights changes

Changes are coming to the Canadian Human Rights Act.

This summer, for the first time, First Nations people living on reserve will have access to the Canadian Human Rights act.

“If our band membership applied for housing and was denied, and if that member felt he or she was not fairly dealt with, he or she could not file a complaint with the Canadian Human Rights Commission,” said FSIN vice-chief Morley Watson, explain how things have been done up to this point.

This means those living on reserve can finally file discrimination complaints.
