No change atop FSIN after four-hour closed door discussions

Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations members have voted not to strip their chief of his authority.

The third and final day of the FSIN winter assembly Thursday on the Whitecap First Nation included a four-hour closed door meeting. Inside, a resolution was tabled to suspend the powers of Chief Guy Lonechild and the vice chiefs.

That motion was ultimately defeated.

“While we're looking at the compliance audit of the executive, and judging them, would it be fair for them to be in office or not? And I think at the end of the day, if they were suspended, there would be a void there that needed to be filled,” Saskatoon Tribal Council Chief Felix Thomas said.
