Conditions set for Kelley Minogue on sexual interference charges

A woman in Warman is facing sexual interference charges. It's alleged the incidents happened with three boys under the age of 16.

Kelley Minogue, 37, made her first court appearance on Wednesday. No details were read out in court, but her bail conditions were set.

Minogue cannot be within 200 metres of her alleged victims or communicate directly with them. She can't have any alcohol or go to any arena or place where young people gather — except Warman High School where her two children attend, and only if it is to deal directly with her kids. She also must report to Warman RCMP every Friday.

The mother of one of the alleged victims says she found out in December, when RCMP asked her son to give a statement. She was told her son was allegedly assaulted by a friend's mother. That led to the charges against Minogue.

In an exclusive interview Thursday on John Gormley Live, the mom said alcohol was involved, and the boy decided to sleep over. In the aftermath, she said her son is feeling some effects.

“Kind of up and down,” she said. “We're going to counselling and he's dealing with some anger issues.”

She pointed out her son and Minogue's son were friends.

“They would go snowboarding together and they had a lot of the same interests,” she said.

After finding out, the mom claims she saw Minogue at an event where the alleged victims were present, and says it was very difficult.

“I was shaken and crying and I just really couldn't get a handle on it. I couldn't understand why she would want to show her face,” said the mom.

She added it seemed everyone in town knew, which made her uncomfortable at first, thinking she'd be judged by the community. But she contends people in Warman have been very supportive.

Minogue refused to comment outside of court. Her next appearance is in March.
