Prince Albert’s worst driver

Mar 4, 2011 | 5:30 AM

Take it as a compliment or an oversight, but the number one rated show on the Discovery Channel, Canada’s Worst Driver, has never featured someone from the Prince Albert area.

Producers are setting out to change that this year. A media release has been issued specifically requesting Prince Albert nominations for the show.

Meredith Veats, associate producer with for Canada’s Worst Driver season seven, said the entire province has actually been very lightly represented on the show.

“We’ve had almost 50 drivers on our show. Only two of them have been from Saskatchewan and not one from Prince Albert,” Veats said.

She said they really want to represent the entire country and they “don’t want to leave Prince Albert out.”

According to the release Canada’s Worst Driver aims to “improve city streets one bad driver at a time.”
Veats said they are looking all kinds of bad drivers.

“Anywhere from a nervous driver to an aggressive or fast driver. We also have a look at how they do parking, merging, reversing and core driving skills. If they struggle with those they’re probably a good candidate for us,” Veats said.

She said if someone from Prince Albert is selected for the show they will be flown out to a drivers rehabilitation centre in Ontario where the driver will perform a series of challenges. Producers will be meeting with potential candidates in April.
