Beverley Mahood and Bob McGrath return to Saskatchewan for Telemiracle 35

One of Saskatchewan's largest annual fundraisers is bound to make people laugh and cry this weekend as Kinsmen Telemiracle 35 takes place at Saskatoon's Teacher's Credit Union Place.

Long-time hosts Beverley Mahood and Bob McGrath talk about what Telemiracle means to them.

Mahood says there's just something about it that pulls her in year after year.

“The thing about Telemiracle is that it's real, it's authentic, and I think we're missing that these days,” said the country music star. “So when you can be surrounded by that, you gravitate towards something always that's real.”

Bob McGrath is another familiar face when it comes to the Saskatchewan fundraiser that helps people with special needs. However, the only faces that matter to him are the ones that light up when they get a new wheelchair or walker.

“It gives them that sense of independence. If you can think past just the vehicle, the bus that takes kids around and who's inside and where they're going and what they're doing, it really brings it home,” said McGrath.

McGrath also spoke about the importance of programs like Sarcan Recycling and Cosmopolitan Industries, which gives adults living with disabilities the opportunity to work and socialize.

Telemiracle 35 begins Saturday at 9 p.m. and runs until Sunday at 5 p.m. on CTV.
