First Nations University fire not suspicious

Mar 23, 2011 | 6:25 AM

According to investigators, the weekend fire at First Nations University's campus on 11th Street East is not considered suspicious at this time.

Preliminary findings in a co-investigation between the Prince Albert Police Service’s Forensic Identification Unit and the Prince Albert Fire and Protective Services show the fire was likely an accident.

“At this point were confident in saying that we have no reason to suspect that this is anything but an accidental fire,” said Sgt. Kelly McLean, with the Prince Albert police.

He added there is still a lot of work that needs to be done before a final determination can be made.
