Police reach out for info in Crescent Heights-area death

Apr 21, 2015 | 4:15 PM

Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) is reaching out to anyone who may have been in the Crescent Heights area Sunday night.

At 9:30 p.m. Sunday night police received a call about a woman in cardiac arrest and they responded with Parkland Ambulance to the scene around 15th Avenue and 28th Street East.   There, they found the woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Tuesday Sgt. Brandon Mudry said they are still investigating the suspicious death of the woman.  They are looking to the public for help.

“We’re asking anyone who was in the area of the walking path behind Helme Crescent on Sunday evening between the hours of 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. come forward as they may have information that will assist the investigators,” Mudry said.

Currently, the area where the body was found is still taped off by police, he said.

“It’s maximum effort, it’s maximum attention to detail.”

Police won’t release exactly where the body was found in that area, but Mudry said they’re looking for information from anywhere in that vicinity.  “On the walking paths that intertwine between the crescents, the apartment buildings out there, if anyone was in that area in that timeframe we ask that they just contact police service.”  This could also include the bridge area and parking lots, he added.

“That’s a highly populated area and we’re just hoping that if anyone has seen anything or if anyone has any information that they just come forward.”

The contact investigator is Sgt. Rudderham.  He can be reached at 306-960-9314 or contact Crime Stoppers.

Mudry said they cannot provide more details on the woman, but the death is still deemed “suspicious.”

Right now, he said, the public shouldn’t be concerned.

“At this point it’s difficult to assess public safety, but there’s no reason to believe that the public’s at risk.  In the course of the investigation we should be able to provide more details.”

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday in Edmonton, Alta.
