PHOTOS: Neighbours try to save burning Lac Pelletier cabin

A family hoping to relax at the lake for Mother’s Day sprang into action to help save a nearby cabin from a fire.

Karen Emperingham was fishing with her family on Lac Pelletier when they noticed what appeared to be a bon fire at a cabin, but it quickly engulfed the railing.

“It had taken over the whole front of the cabin within a minute,” Emperingham told Swift Current online. “So we docked our boat a few doors down. I had my daughter watching the kids over there, and we rushed, grabbed hoses and everything we could and just started pailing.”

Later, Emperingham’s husband noticed a small metal shed on the property line. His brother kicked down the metal door because it was too hot to touch.
