Aces advance to Nationals
The Prince Albert U18 Midget ‘A’ Aces will be heading to Montreal for the Canadian National Women’s Softball Championships August 2-9 after winning a silver medal at provincials in Regina this weekend.
The Aces advanced to the gold medal game after going 3-0 in the preliminary round and handling the Lumsden Cubs 9-2 in the semi finals.
It took 2 extra innings to decide the championship game with the Saskatoon Selects defeating the Aces 3-2 in the bottom of the 9th. The top 3 teams in the province will represent Saskatchewan at the Canadian Championships.
Due to injuries, the Aces relied on one pitcher for 5 of their 6 games. Jordyn Hope pitched 31 innings during the weekend. She was helped out by some great defensive plays and hot bats as the Aces out scored their competition 43-13 over 6 games.
