Assaults and alcohol-related arrests dominate the weekend

By Sunday afternoon, Parkland Ambulance Paramedics had responded to 55 incidents.

On Saturday evening, just before 4 p.m. they went to an assault call in the 3500 block of 2nd Avenue West. Paramedics cared for a 22-year-old man with injuries and he was taken to hospital in good condition.

Shortly after, Parkland Ambulance was called to the site of an assault in the 600 block of 15th Street West. They cared for a 32-year-old man with minor injuries to hospital. He was in good condition at the time.

Another assault, this time at the corner of 12th Avenue and Branion Drive, was attended to by paramedics after 5 p.m. A 19-year-old man with minor injuries was taken to hospital for further care.

Around 7:20 p.m., paramedics were at Sturgeon Lake Reserve responding to an assault. They attended to a 17-year-old man with minor injuries. He was taken to hospital.

Another assault on the Sturgeon Lake Reserve had paramedics caring for a 48-year-old woman with minor injuries who was also taken to hospital for more care.

Police update

The Prince Albert Police Service responded to 240 calls over the weekend. 

Most of the calls were on intoxicated persons, disturbances or evictions.  The majority were Friday and Satuday night.

During the weekend, 42 people were arrested. A total of 23 were arrested for being intoxicated in public.
