SPCA animals looking for a comfortable home

Jul 30, 2015 | 5:14 PM

The Prince Albert SPCA’s furry friends are out and about in the community, looking for their next home.

The SPCA has set up a mobile adoption centre at Leon’s as part of their ‘garage sale event’ in the hopes to adopt out some pets.

The event, running both July 30 and 31, allows people to meet pets, get information on all adoptable pets and fill out adoption applications.

The adoption event will be set up again from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday.

John Morash, executive director of the Prince Albert SPCA, said they’re excited to have teamed up with Leon’s in order to get pets adopted.

“It’s good timing for us because we have 48 animals available for adoption,” said Morash. “This gives us a lot of exposure.”

By noon on Thursday, Morash said 20 families had taken adoption papers.

“We’re very hopeful… there’s been a lot of interest shown today.”

SPCA pets are available for adoption on site. Besides that, they’re also offering information on micro-chipping, the ‘NO HOT PETS’ campaign and volunteer packages.

If interested, people can search for their next pet on the Pet Finder website

There’s also a pet-friendly gift basket that they’re raffling off for a donation. All donations will go directly to the SPCA.

According to Morash, all animals at the event are from the SPCA. No unclaimed animals from the northern fires are available for adoption at this time.
