Justin Trudeau promises First Nation investment

Walking in to chants of “Justin,” the leader of the Liberal Party said he plans to invest $515 million into First Nations funding from Kindergarten to Grade 12.

Speaking at a town hall-style meeting at the Sheraton Cavalier in Saskatoon, Justin Trudeau said new funding will increase to $750 million in the years to come. He added that the Liberal Party will also invest in First Nation infrastructure.

The Senate was also a talking point for Trudeau. He said under a Liberal leadership senators would be removed from partisan politics to allow them to focus elsewhere.

Trudeau spoke about one of his opponents, Prime Minister Stephen Harper who made a stop in Regina on Thursday, saying the Conservatives are aiding the illegal drug trade by continuing to criminalize marijuana and fueling guns and violence.
