Metis Day Program

Sep 6, 2015 | 3:10 PM

Have you heard that Métis Addictions Council of Saskatchewan Inc. (MACSI) is running a drop in Day Program? In early 2015, we launched Day Program  as a complement to our Inpatient, Outpatient, Stabilization and Field services.

Since our launch many individuals from Prince Albert and surrounding communities have attended Day Program, but we are still getting the word out. Attached to this email you will find an informational poster. Would you please consider displaying our poster in your organization? To learn more about this program here is a short overview:

What is Day Program?

Day Program is a flexible, drop in program intended to bridge gaps in the continuum of substance addictions services in Prince Albert and surrounding areas. Day Program meets participants where they are at and is suited to individuals at all stages of recovery. Many participants attend Day Program prior to a more structured Inpatient Program while others attend as a means of aftercare.

Day Program promotes a model of self-help where individuals make choices about their attendance. They decide which days, which topics/workshops, when to start, how often to attend and for how long to attend. Participants tailor how they use Day Program to achieve their specific goals.

It is important to understand that unlike MACSI’s abstinence-based Inpatient Program, Day program offers a harm reduction model. This means that participants who continue to use substances can still access treatment. They benefit from the group support, the safe, non-judgemental approach and have conversations about how they might reduce harms and make safer and healthier choices. Since Day Program is a drop in service, it is well suited many.

If you have questions about Day Program or any of MACSI’s services or if you would like a short presentation at your next staff meeting I would be happy to hear from you.
