Halloween spirit comes alive in P.A.

Oct 27, 2015 | 11:57 AM

The Halloween spirit is evident at homes around Prince Albert.

With Halloween less than a week away, some families have gone all out to display their love for the day turning their yards into large graveyards infested with spiders, ghosts and zombies.

Halloween enthusiast Shawn Wingham covered his property on 22nd Street East with tombstones, ghosts and ghouls to celebrate the occasion.

He said this is the third year he has decorated his yard for Halloween.

“It’s just my favourite time of year,” he said. “It is fun and I do it for the kids so they can have some fun.”

Bonnie Moore and her family, who live on the same street as Wingham, made the effort to get their home prepared for Halloween this year as well, a family tradition since her grandkids were old enough to take part.

“I used to do it many years ago and then I stopped but then really started going again, I guess when Marshall and Hallee were a little bit older, maybe two or three, and they really, really got involved with doing it,” said Moore. “We just love doing this it’s a part of our tradition as a family.”

She said her grandkids Marshall, 9, Hallee, 8, and Liam, 3, can’t wait for Halloween each year so they can create their annual graveyard scene.

“They love to do it, they love to be a part of it and to walk through it and to change things up,” said Moore. “They love the excitement of seeing the cars pull up and take a look at it and the look on their faces when they stop by and see it.”

“That is the whole idea to give everybody the joy of Halloween.”

The countdown to this year’s Halloween eve has begun with only four days remaining until trick or treating will commence Oct. 31.
