Prince Albert Police have charged a 21-year-old man after an armed robbery Tuesday morning.

On Nov. 3, just before 6 a.m., police were called to a business located in the 2700 block of 2nd Ave. W. for a report of an armed robbery with a firearm.

When they arrived, staff told police two masked males had entered the store, one carrying a firearm described as a sawed off shotgun.

The suspects made off with cash, lottery tickets and cigarettes.

K9, Daxa, was called to scene and initiated a track of the suspects.

One suspect was pursued by the K9 and climbed a fence into the Kinsmen Water Park.  He was engaged by Daxa but was able to get free and continued to run.

Police contained Kinsmen Park and the man was taken into custody moments later.

No one was injured in this incident.

The investigation continues in regards to the second suspect.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to contact the Prince Albert Police or Crime Stoppers.

The Prince Albert man taken into custody now faces charges of robbery with a firearm and committing an offence while masked.  He made his first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court Wednesday morning.

This was the second armed robbery in two weeks at the same business on 2nd Ave. W., which was also robbed on Oct. 20.

In that incidence, a man entered the store, pulled a gun and made off with cash and cigarettes.

Police are investigating whether the two incidents are related.

Within the past two weeks, there have been a total of three armed robberies in the city.
