Dustin Trevor Sand, a 29-year-old man from Birch Hills, is facing numerous charges after a criminal pursuit that took place in Prince Albert on Tuesday evening.

At approximately 10 p.m., Prince Albert Police were chasing Sand, who was wanted by numerous police agencies for serious criminal warrants.

According to police, they followed a vehicle at normal speeds across the Diefenbaker Bridge before activating emergency equipment and trying to pull over the suspect.

As a result of that attempt a criminal pursuit then ensued, lasting for about 30 minutes, until the suspect’s vehicle mechanically failed.

Police said Sand then exited the vehicle and started to flee on foot.

A K9 unit was brought in and due to safety concerns for the suspect Police said they used a Taser to subdue Sand.

Police said Sand, who was uninjured, was then taken into custody.

Sand made his first appearance at Prince Albert Provincial Court on Thursday morning.

Sand was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evading police, possession of property obtained by crime, assaulting a peace officer, driving while disqualified and breach of probation.
