Challenges of Families & Community Assisting Special Needs
Autism Services Will be hosting a free Workshop on Wednesday, November 18, “Challenges Faced by Families & Community Assisting Special Needs” at the Victoria Square Education Room at Victoria Square (building east of the hospital) from 9 a,m. – 12 p.m.
Kathryn Olthuis and Elaine Billay, Social Workers with Prince Albert Mental Health, will discuss the effects on the family when a family member has a disability or a special need.
Topics include value of inclusion, advocacy, navigating the school and other supports, self-care and coping, relational challenges within the immediate and extended family, and keeping expectations realistic.
