PA bodybuilder invited to compete in Women’s World Championship

One Prince Albert woman is brushing up on her Polish.

Bodybuilder Marie Robertson has just been invited to participate in the Women’s World Championships in Poland this September.

“It’s getting a bit more intense right. I’m doing two cardio sessions a day and resistance training five or six days a week. I kind of just listen to my body and see how I’m feeling,” Robertson said about her training methods with the competition fast approaching.

Before Poland, Robertson will also be competing in both the Canadian Bodybuilding Championships and North American Bodybuilding Championships. She explained she really wants to win first place, so she can get an International Federation of Bodybuilders (IFB) pro status. She said this will help her gain endorsements and compete as a professional.

To achieve this goal Robertson has been consistently in the competition circuit for a couple years now and can’t get enough.

“I love it. I am a gym junkie. Even the days when I’m sore, I’m so proud of myself. I really look forward to every workout I do. It’s really challenging for me, but I really really like it, so I wouldn’t say there is ever a time I don’t want to train,” she laughed.

With such dedication surely the mother of two would have to make some sacrifices, but Robertson said she manages to fit everything in thanks to “running a tight ship”.

“It takes a lot of pre-planning. I pre-cook all my meals and pre-plan everything. I have my workouts for the week pre-planned,” she said, adding her five and eight-year-old children are now old enough to get involved.

“They’ve just grown up with it … it’s nice now that they’re a little bit older, so they’re a lot more involved with what I do. They come to the track with me or to the gym and it seems like they really get it.”

Working out is not just about the title for Robertson.

“I am a huge advocate for healthy living,” she said, explaining people don’t have to take it to the extreme lengths like she does to achieve an overall healthy life.

“As far as just healthy living and just getting to the gym, I think that it’s really important that people make time to do it. You only have one body and I know you hear that all the time, but your health is the most important thing you have.”
