Police respond to impaired drivers, house fire over weekend

Twenty-nine people were arrested in the city last weekend as members of the Prince Albert Police Service responded to 230 calls for service.

One call was to assist Prince Albert Fire Control at a house fire on March 8. According to Sgt. Travis Willie with PAPS, there was a fire in the basement and garage of a house on the 500 block of Fifth Street East.

No one was in the home when police arrived. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

In separate investigations, three people were charged with impaired driving and exceeding the legal limit.

On March 8 around 10 p.m. police stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Marquis Road East and charged a 26-year-old woman with impaired driving and exceeding .08.

The following day after 11 p.m. a patrol officer stopped a vehicle on the unit block of 13th Street West after observing a drunk driver. A 46-year-old man from Duck Lake was charged with impaired driving, and exceeding .08.

On March 11, after 2 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Eighth Street East. A 29-year-old man from Timber Bay was charged with impaired driving, and exceeding .08.
