Raiders comeback falls short in Moose Jaw

Oct 10, 2026 | 10:45 PM

After losing three straight games, the Prince Albert Raiders were in need of a win Saturday night when they arrived in Moose Jaw to take on the Warriors.

The Raiders battled through adversity and managed to come back and tie it, but would fall just short in a shootout 4-3.

The Raiders came out of the gates hot and got a couple of good chances, but the Warriors got the game’s first powerplay and scored at the 14:51 mark. A feed out of the corner from Rasmus Kamarainen went through the legs of Landen McFadden in the slot andbac to Luke Moroz, and the former Raiders forward wristed it home through traffic at the 14:51 mark.

After 1: Raiders 0 – 1 Warriors, shots 13-6 Raiders

To start the second, the Raiders had a string of bad luck. First, the Warriors scored 42 seconds in when Landen McFadden threw a puck towards the goal out of the corner, and it managed to squeak through the post and goaltender Michal Orsulak into the net. Then at 5:48, the Warriors scored again when a shot on goal was stopped by Orsulak’s glove, the rebound bounced high in the air and landed behind him, and Noah Degenstein found the rebound before Orsulak.

Then, since ‘bad luck comes in threes’, the third bit of bad luck came in the offensive zone when Athens Shingoose was battling for a puck down low, but his stick came up and clipped a Warriors defender in the face. Now the Raiders had a full four minute double minor to kill.

That penalty kill though was beneficial for the Raiders as they came away with the momentum, and at 11:16 they managed to score. Jonah Sivertson picked up an assist for getting the puck to Oskars Luks on the left point, and he fired a shot that was stopped. Riley Boychuk found the rebound and buried his second of the season.

Then 52 seconds later, and the Raiders scored again. Owen Corkish had the puck bounce off his stick and Ben Harvey had to jump high in the air to hold the puck in. He curled along the left point as the Raiders re-entered the zone, and Harvey found Brock Cripps skating into the slot. Cripps ripped a wrist shot for his second of the year at 12:08.

Before the end of the period, the Warriors got set up for two breakaways on the same shift, but Michal Orsulak made his two best saves of the night.

After 2: Raiders 2 – 3 Warriors, shots 15-14 Warriors, 27-21 Raiders overall

The Raiders started the third period on the powerplay, for 38 seconds, but they couldn’t score. Then the Raiders gave up a powerplay, but killed that off fairly easily and continued to control the play.

When the Raiders got their fourth powerplay of the night, they finally managed to tie the game. Brock Cripps picked up his second assist of the night holding the puck in at the blueline, then sent it right for Brandon Gorzynski. He found Alisher Sarkenov sliding in down the left side, and Sarkenov fired a wrist shot for his fourth of the season at 11:59.

After 3: Raiders 3 – 3 Warriors, shots 12-4 Raiders, 39-26 Raiders overall

The Raiders had a couple of great chances in overtime with Jonah Sivertson burning a defender for a chance in alone on goal but was stopped. Ben Harvey had a great chance as welll digging for a rebound, but ultimately it would fail and the game would head to a shootout.

In the shootout, Alisher Sarkenov scored as the leadoff shooter for the Raiders, but the Warriors got two from Landen McFadden and Rasmus Kamarainen to take the win.

FINAL (SO): Raiders 3 – 4 Warriors, shots 4-3 Raiders, 43-29 Raiders overall

The Raiders will have a chance at redemption Friday in Prince Albert when they host the Warriors in a rematch.
