A long time fundraiser is set to go for the tenth time this week.

The Diva For A Day Ladies Golf Tournament & Caddie Auction are set to go Thursday and Friday at Kachur’s Golf Club. All of the money raised from the tournament will go to support Big Brothers Big Sisters Prince Albert.

Patty Kachur, who is with Kachur’s Golf Club and also sits on the board that organizes the tournament said the event provides a unique experience.

“It’s probably the only fundraiser that’s all women, I think, in the city … we grab a pretty cool crowd,”
she said.

Kachur has been involved with the fundraiser for the past five years, when the tournament moved out to the course from Cooke Municipal Golf Course. Before hitting the links the teams bid on the 20 caddies, who volunteer to go out on the course with the teams and help by looking for balls and even pouring drinks. Kachur said the caddie portion is popular for attendees.

“It’s pretty fun, they auction them off and raise a lot of money for Big Brothers and Big Sisters,” she said.

When it comes to supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters, Kachur has seen first-hand the work the organization does. She talked about how a man who volunteered with the organization would bring his little brother to golf at the course many years ago.

“That was a big brother example, it was so cool,” she said.

Natasha Thomson, development coordinator with Big Brother Big Sisters Prince Albert said the golf tournament and caddie auction is an event which is important for her organization.

“This is our major fundraiser and we really rely on this event to help us continue and move forward, [to] keep offering these programs to vulnerable youth,” she said.

In past years the event has raised around $30,000 to support the programs the organization delivers. Right now there are 35 kids who are matched with mentors in the program in P.A.

There is still room for some teams to enter into the tournament and auction. Thomson said the event is generally a popular one and that has not changed.

“We’re almost sold out, which is on par with every year,” she said.
