Re-trial in murder conspiracy case set back

The re-trial in a case involving two lovers accused of plotting to kill their spouses will not move ahead next week as planned.

The re-trial for Angela Nicholson and Curtis Vey was scheduled to start Tuesday at Prince Albert Court of Queen’s Bench. But the case has been set back one week to allow more time for a judge to make a decision regarding recorded evidence in the case.

The two are charged with conspiracy to commit murder. The key piece of evidence in the case is an iPod recording Brigitte Vey made of a conversation between her husband and Nicholson.

Lawyers for Nicholson and Vey argued in court last month that the recording should be thrown out.

Nicholson and Vey were convicted in 2016. They were each sentenced to three years in jail but the convictions were overturned following an appeal.

The re-trial is now scheduled to start May 27 in Prince Albert.
