Panthers claw their way to a win in Meadow Lake

May 14, 2019 | 5:13 PM

Despite this year being their rookie season, the Prince Albert Panthers continue to impress on the field.

Prince Albert’s first female rugby team played in Meadow Lake last Saturday and won one out-of-three games. Many of the girls on the team have never played rugby before.

The Panthers’ first loss was by 10 points against the Meadow Lake She-Devils. The Panthers were on the cusp of a comeback when time ran out. The Panthers’ second loss of the day came against the far more experienced Saskatoon Sirens; no tries were scored by the Panthers. In their third game, the Panthers beat the Saskatoon Razorbacks.

Brooklyn Grimard, Chantal Bourassa, Alexis Engel and Josee Trzaskowski all had two tries over the course of the day. Abby Tiesen and Kaylyn Anderson each had one try.
