Child homicide investigation in downtown P.A.

Mar 22, 2019 | 8:25 AM

Prince Albert Police have launched a rapid and full scale investigation after a shocking and tragic incident at an apartment building in the downtown Wednesday.

A small child is believed to have been the victim of a homicide at the Rivercrest apartments on 11th Street.W.

Police are not saying much at this stage but said in a media release they are investigating fully with the Office of the Coroner.

They received a call noon Wednesday that a two-year-old child was reported to be unconscious.

The infant later died at Victoria Hospital.

An autopsy Thursday concluded this was a homicide.

The Criminal Investigations Division and Forensic teams are involved.

paNOW contacted P.A.Police who said they would not be offering further comment at this time. They added there was no threat to public safety at this time.

Editor’s note: an earlier version of this story used the term murder. For clarification, the PA Police and Coroner are using the term homicide.
