Kramer Ltd., Saskatchewan’s Caterpillar dealer, is selling the company to Finning for approximately $230 million.

Founded in 1944 by Robert A. Kramer, the company has been run by Tim Kramer for the past 23 years.

Robert first passed the company down to his eldest child Don Kramer in 1980 after he retired. Tim Kramer, who is Don’s third of five children, became president in 1995. Donald Kramer became chairman of the board.

The Regina-based company employs about 475 people in nine locations across the province.

Finning International, which is headquartered in Vancouver, is the world’s largest Caterpillar equipment dealer. Tony de Sousa, a 39-year veteran, has been named the executive to lead Finning Saskatchewan. He will be based in Regina. De Sousa and his family will be moving from Edmonton.

In 2014, Kramer generated approximately $275 million in revenue. Finning will become the approved Caterpillar dealership in July, subject to closing conditions.
