Raiders tidbits: Green signing, Clarke re-assigned, Shingoose missing U17s

Nov 3, 2026 | 5:03 PM

There is lots of news heading into a three-game week for the Prince Albert Raiders.

First, the Raiders announced the signing of 2009-born forward Benjamin Green from Scottsdale, Arizona.

“Benjamin is one of the youngest players in the NAHL, and he is having a tremendous start to the year. We’re excited to add him to the Raider family,” said Raiders General Manager Curtis Hunt.

Green is playing with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), a league similar in comparison to the SJHL. There, as one of the youngest players on the team, he sits second in scoring with 7G-9A-16P, and his seven goals lead the team.

At the moment, Green will stay in the NAHL, but his rights in the WHL now belong to the Raiders. Green is playing with Tyler McCracken, whom the Raiders brought to camp earlier this fall.

As part of the announcement with Green, the Raiders also announced that they have re-assigned 2007-born defenceman Hubert Clarke to the AJHL’s Fort McMurray Oil Barons. Clarke was the Raiders oldest returning defenceman this year, and the second oldest defenceman on the team after the addition of Jordan Murray.

The move leaves the Raiders with seven defenceman, and 22 players on the roster total.

In one last piece of news, the U17 World Hockey Championships have started this week with one Raider noticeably absent. Athens Shingoose suffered a lower body injury that stopped him from attending the tournament after he led Team Canada’s U17 camp in scoring during the offseason.

Shingoose, the lone 16-year-old on the Raiders this season, was most recently listed as day-to-day with his injury. Raiders assistant coach Connor Yawney said that it’s never easy for a young player to miss out on that kind of opportunity, but Shingoose has handled it well.

“It’s tough; you really feel for Athens because he was really excited and he was deserving of being able to go. That’s kind of just the message (from coaching staff to him), ‘it’s not what happens, how you respond to it.’ Goose has been really good rehabbing, getting back into action here in practice and being back to a full participant.”

The Raiders have three games this coming week, starting with the end of a homestand Wednesday night against the Calgary Hitmen, and then two games on the road when the Raiders are in Red Deer and Edmonton.
