Survivor calls for learning and connection at reconciliation event
Gerald Ballantyne’s children are the first generation in his family who did not attend residential school. He wants them, and the wider community, to understand what the six generations before them experienced.
The residential school survivor from Little Red River Reserve was the master of ceremonies at a Prince Albert Grand Council event Wednesday marking the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day.

For Ballantyne, sharing that history is about helping people understand the pain survivors continue to carry and building relationships that can move reconciliation forward.
