Orange jerseys bring extra meaning for Raiders’ Clarke
Hubert Clarke is always proud to wear the Prince Albert Raiders logo on his chest. On Wednesday, what surrounds that logo will mean even more.
The 19-year-old from Norway House, Man., is Cree from Treaty 5 territory. Now playing in Treaty 6 territory, Clarke said Prince Albert has come to feel a lot like home.
“I like to tell my friends and family that Prince Albert is kind of similar to Norway House, just a bigger town,” he said. “There are so many Indigenous people here that say ‘Hi’ to me, that I know support me every single day and every single game.”
That connection means even more to Clarke because of the support he received from his own community on his way to the Western Hockey League.
