Important AgriStability deadline Thursday

Prybylski said there have been some incremental changes to AgriStability to make it more attractive for farmers to get involved.

“More responsive, better coverage, taking into account some different calculations, particularly when it comes to livestock and feed calculations that have really improved the program and made it more responsive to the actual realities on farms,” he said. “So, we’ve seen some significant improvements to the program, deadlines that have changed, the way calculations have been carried out and just the overall responsiveness of the program, we believe, has improved to the point where we believe it’s worth it for farmers to have another look at the program.”

The enrollment deadline has been extended to Thursday. Prybylski said if producers are considering it they will have to move quickly.

“They don’t need to have any of the of the historical data submitted they just need to contact their local crop insurance office to enroll in the program if they feel it’s worth it,” he said.

Prybylski said that with all of the risks that are involved in farming it made sense to him to enroll.

“Just to have that security knowing that if we do run into problems with the weather, with trade, with tariffs, with increasing costs, that there’s programs there that will help us get through so that we can live to farm another year,” he said.

Prybylski said it’s the time of the year when farmers are using the most diesel throughout the year, and it is a significant cost to producers.

“Anything producers can do to help mitigate that extra increase in costs I think is worth looking at,” he said. “I just want producers to be aware that the programs are there to help if they can make use of them.”
