Prince Albert man charged after police seize cocaine, gun and other drugs

A Prince Albert man is facing drug trafficking and firearms charges after police seized cocaine, other drugs and a firearm during an investigation earlier this month.

The Prince Albert Police Service said its Crime Reduction Team began investigating suspected cocaine trafficking in the city in early September and obtained search warrants for a home and vehicle.

On Sept. 16, officers arrested 35-year-old Cory Grimard during a traffic stop in the 700 block of Fourth Street East. Police said he was taken into custody without incident and the vehicle connected to the investigation was seized.

A fixed-blade knife was also found during a search of the vehicle.

Later that night, at about 9:20 p.m., officers executed a search warrant at a home in the 800 block of Sixth Street East.

Police said they seized 271.4 grams of powder cocaine and 76.9 grams of crack cocaine, along with 114.7 grams of MDMA, 188 hydromorphone pills and 213 grams of marijuana.

Officers also seized an Aero Survival Rifle and ammunition, approximately $2,200 in Canadian currency, five scales and four drug press moulds.

Police also recovered 20 guitars valued at approximately $20,000.

Grimard has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and multiple firearms-related offences.

He was last in court on Monday and released on bail. He returns to court on Oct. 6.
