Saturday night’s alright for fighting as Raiders fall to Broncos
After a successful night raising banners at home and earning the season’s first win on home ice, the Prince Albert Raiders were on the road Saturday against the Swift Current Broncos.
Unlike the night before though, the Raiders never lead, tensions boiled over in the second, and the Raiders were handed their first loss of the season 5-2.
On the first powerplay of the game for the Raiders, the puck was mishandled at the middle of the blueline, and the Broncos Trae Wilke stole the puck for a fast break 2-on-2 rush. Wilke fed Parker Rondeau streaking to the goal line, and Rondeau scored for a shorthanded goal at 9:22.
The Broncos doubled their lead on the powerplay at the 15:47 mark. A shot from the point by Jace McFaul was stopped, but then Trae Wilke cleaned up the rebound at 15:47.
