Prince Albert Safe Shelter for Women eyes new 15 passenger van

Saturday’s event was the third of its kind and to date they have raised over $25,000.

“We recently received a quote from Ford for $79,362, and they have generously provided us with a discount on the vehicle,” Ginter explained.

Open 24 hours a day and 365 days per year, the shelter provides temporary shelter, safety, nutrition, transportation, information, referrals and support to women and children who are experiencing physical, mental, sexual, emotional, and/or spiritual abuse.

Ginter stated the Prince Albert Safe Shelter for Women is experiencing an increasing demand for its services.

“Our eight rooms can accommodate up to 26 residents, including women and children, and we are consistently at full capacity,” she said, emphasizing the women who stay at the shelter require a safe place to stay while they work toward safety and stability.

The Prince Albert Safe Shelter for Women is funded through the Ministry of Justice, but also relies on private donations and fund-raising initiatives. Ginter confirmed their third annual golf fundraiser was a great success, with a wonderful turnout from local businesses, community members, and supporters of the Prince Albert Safe Shelter for Women.

Lakeland Ford donated two Longest Drive prizes valued at $599 each for car detailing, as well as a $1,000 donation and a significant discount toward the 15-passenger van they hope to purchase.
