Letter writing campaign opens for Cultural Events Centre

To help with the campaign, the City has created a page on their website with 10 pre-written letters that go directly to different federal government ministries. Once you select a category, you’ll be able to read the letter, as well as add your name and mailing address.

If the pre-written letter approach is not what you want to go with and you want to write a letter of your own, each minister’s mailing address as well as email for people to send their own personally written support letters are listed.

“We’ve written 10 letters already based on your area that you think is the most important and it’ll go to the minister that it fits. So there’s already letters made, so you just put your name in and check the area that you feel it supports the most from your perspective. Or, feel free to just take the address off that from that page and write your own letter.”

While letters of support for the new facility are always a good thing, Kilmer has learned over the course of the funding campaign that there are times that these letters can be more affective. Now, while ministers are getting ready to go over proposed projects, getting as many of these letters on to the ministers’ desks as possible means ministers spend more time looking at Prince Albert’s proposed project compared to others.

“Our criteria is heavily weighed on the great investments that are happening with the hospital, the billion dollar hospital. We have our provincial government supporting the investment as well to bring people to Prince Albert. So the perfect timing right now, just as they’re looking at the applications and we are shovel ready.”
