The Blades took over early in the second on the powerplay. At 3:56, Brayden Klimpke set up a onetimer for Kazden Mathies to score. Then at 4:42, the Blades scored again on the rush thanks to a shot from Kain Martinuik.

Then at the 12:04 mark, the Blades scored again on a backdoor feed for Cooper Williams.

With 3:31 left in the second and the Blades on a powerplay, a collision on the Zamboni door knocked a metal stanchion loose. That stopped the period, and they restarted it after the flood ahead of the third.

When play resumed, the Blades scored again on the powerplay thanks to Mathies at 17:11, and then another goal at the 17:26 mark when Jagger John beat a defender wide and tucked the puck in on the backhand.

About halfway through the period, the Raiders got their first spark when Athens Shingoose dropped the gloves with Kain Martinuik. Shingoose was smaller by about three inches, but still put up a good fight and end up top.

The Raiders managed to score twice before the end of the game. At 11:43, a huge hit on the centre ice wall from Evan Smith freed the puck up for the Raiders to take over. Ben Harvey streaked up the ice, put a shot on goal, that was stopped, and Darius Hordal managed to find the rebound and bury it.

Then at 15:15, Tate Hanson managed to set Harvey up for a onetimer, and Harvey blasted it home for the last laugh of the night.

In the overtime period where the league is still testing new rules, Ben Bowtell scored for the Blades a little over two minutes in.

Brady Holtvogt started the game for the Raiders in goal and stopped 15 of 17 shots faced for a 0.882 save percentage. Chase Kettles got the second half of the game, allowing three goals on 21 shots for a 0.852.

The Raiders play their next game on Thursday at home in a rematch with the Blades. They’ll finish the preseason the next night on the road against Regina.
