Necropsy confirms euthanized bear killed couple at McTavish Lake 

A necropsy on a bear that was euthanized after being caught in northern Saskatchewan near the spot a couple was recently killed, has confirmed the bear was indeed the animal involved.  

The provincial government confirmed the findings this afternoon, a month after Regina couple Jay and Deb MacDonald were found deceased outside of a cabin near the fly-in community of McTavish Lake, roughly 88 km north of La Ronge.  

The Ministry of Community Safety said the necropsy was completed after conservation officers located and euthanized the bear following the July 15 incident. The bear had been taken to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine for examination.
