Vehicle fire spreads to house in Redwing

Just after 11 a.m. on Thursday (July 30), Buckland Fire and Rescue were called out to a vehicle fire in Redwing. The vehicle fire occurred in an attached garage at a residence on Pine Street.

The Prince Albert Fire Department was immediately requested for mutual aid, with command responding with seven firefighters.

Upon arrival, a large column of black smoke was observed, and the incident was upgraded to a structure fire, which led to more mutual aid from Lakeland Fire and the SPSA’s ERT.

Local RCMP members assisted the homeowner, while Parkland Ambulance also responded to the scene. Thankfully, all occupants were out of the home.

After a 360 survey of the home was conducted, it was determined that the fire had extended from the fully involved garage into the home.

With mutual aid assistance, a total of 18 Firefighters were on scene, getting the fire under control just before 1 p.m.

The fire was investigated, and the home was boarded up by First General Services. Prince Albert Security Services was then hired for the night for fire watch on the property in case of a rekindle.

Buckland crews officially cleared the scene around 8 p.m. later that day, with the incident marking the 76th to date this year.
