It is with heavy hearts that the Smith Family announce the passing of Harold F. Smith, of Deer Ridge, SK, on July 28th, 2026, at the age of 94 years, in the wonderful care of the Rose Garden Hospice. Harold was born on September 8th, 1931, in Wild Rose, SK.
From a young age Harold would take on a lot of responsibility. Harold was “The Man” of the house at the age of 13 when his father left for war and sadly never returned. Harold devoted himself to farming as a good means of supporting his family. With help from his family and neighbors he did well for himself, and he would help his community in return in any way he could.
On June 30th, 1962, Harold would marry the love of his life, Irene Woloszyn. He would always say “We had only ever had one fight, and I don’t really remember what it was about”. They had a family of four but unfortunately two passed away at birth, Colleen and Frederick. Valerie was born in 1963, and Vaughn in 1966, together the family lived in Deer Ridge, SK.
After the passing of his wife Harold met his companion Helen Beskorwayne and eventually moved to her home in Prince Albert, SK. He truly cherished her company, and they enriched each others lives.
Harold cared very deeply for his family, his greatest gifts being his four grandchildren. Harold passed away with a great feeling of pride and confidence in his family.
The family would like to give thanks to the staff at Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK and the unwavering support from the doctors, nurses, and support staff at the Rose Garden Hospice in Prince Albert, SK. A Graveside Service will be held for Harold once Harvest is complete, once confirmed the date and time will be updated.
