James Donald Lutz, age 88, of Tofield, Alberta, passed away on June 23, 2026, with his wife of 63 years at his side.
Don was a person of hard work, kindness, and love. He had a farmer’s heart, raising animals and caring for his garden, and was a skilled builder and carpenter. He enjoyed playing cards and fishing with family and friends, creating many joyful memories over the years.
With over 30 years of dedicated service in the oil industry, Don served as a rig manager and operations manager, exemplifying leadership and commitment. He affectionately called his wife Kathleen his “little roughneck,” reflecting their special bond. His greatest pride was his family and his cherished home, which he held close to his heart.
Don’s warmth and love touched everyone around him, and his legacy will live on forever in our hearts. He is survived by his wife Kathleen, son Trevor, and daughter Lisa.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held at the Civic Center in Spiritwood, Saskatchewan, on July 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Spiritwood Cemetery, with a lunch to be served at the Civic Center following. All are welcome to attend.
