The RM said restoring the route will help move housing for residents who lost their homes and continue to recover. 

The closure has also disrupted local farm operations by limiting access to farmland on both sides of the damaged roadway and affecting transportation to the Bunge grain terminal, the main grain-handling facility serving the area. 

Producers also rely on the route to access fertilizer, seed and other agricultural inputs needed for farming operations. 

The RM said it is still dealing with seven major and several minor flood restoration projects from the 2026 flooding, but council identified White Star West Road as its highest priority because of its broader regional impact. 

The RM also credited the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program and Clifton Engineering for their work during the planning process. 

“Their responsiveness and close co-operation with RM administration have been instrumental in advancing this restoration project and allowing construction to proceed as quickly as possible,” the RM said. “The RM appreciates the patience and co-operation of residents, agricultural producers and the travelling public while this important infrastructure project is completed.”
