Orlin David Reimer was born to Herbert & Ella Reimer on May 17, 1963, in Ste. Anne, Manitoba. He peacefully passed away on June 23, 2026, in Spiritwood, Saskatchewan, at the age of 63.
Orlin grew up in Greenland, Manitoba, moving with his family to Cartwright when he was 14. He talked about going with his dad to sell eggs. He also enjoyed listening to his parent’s sharing experiences of their Hungary/Holland trip. As a young boy, he gave his heart to God, and was baptized on June 24, 1979, into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite by Minister Abe Penner. He had his struggles, but reconsecrated his life in his early thirties, and was faithful to the end. Church attendance was important to Dad, even when he was in the care home.
As a young man, he spent time in Bredenbury, making meaningful connections with friends. After farming in Cartwright for a few years, he moved to Carrot River, Saskatchewan, where he worked in the bush logging and later farming and various other jobs. On August 17, 1997, he married me, Joyce Louise Johnson, in Almena, Wisconsin. We shared almost 29 years of marriage. Two boys were born to us while we lived in Carrot River. In 2005 we moved to Leoville when opportunity came to purchase a butcher shop. He had a variety of jobs, but his last job as a courier was his favorite because he enjoyed connecting with people.
Dad was facing serious health challenges, and in 2011 a healing prayer was offered on his behalf. That granted him his desire to see his boys grow up. Due to declining health, two and a half years ago he moved into the Spiritwood Care Home. We appreciate the care he received there.
He will be missed by his wife, Joyce; two sons: Brent and Allen & Andrea. His siblings: Gladene & Dennis Koehn, Clarice & Herman Reimer, Weldon & Coreen, Delmar & Florence, Merle & Beulah, Judy, Randell & Kathy, Gerald & Marilee, Verden & Lynette, and Karen & Tim Nace. Joyce’s siblings: Mary & Cris Friesen, Lester & Pam, Gilbert & Leah, David & Marjorie, Renetta & Warren Koehn, Shirley & Steve Nightingale, and Rayanne Copp.
He was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law.
