Police arrest driver of stolen car at gas station

May 13, 2026 | 9:54 AM

A 40-year-old man is in police custody after an incident at a gas station in the 2700 block of 15th Avenue East early Wednesday morning.

Prince Albert police attempted to stop the vehicle at 3:30 a.m. because officers suspected the driver had outstanding warrants.

Officers activated their emergency lights, but the driver attempted to flee, striking multiple police vehicles and the building.

A man and a woman in the back seat got out and fled on foot, but the driver and a woman in the front passenger seat remained in the vehicle.

Video of the incident shared on social media shows the car boxed in by police vehicles while officers break the side windows and arrest the man and woman.

During the investigation, officers learned the vehicle was stolen earlier that night, but the theft had not yet been reported.

Police said the driver had outstanding warrants on firearm-related charges and was on a release order that included a curfew.

He is now charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, mischief over $5,000, assaulting a police officer and possession of property obtained by crime.

He is scheduled to make his first court appearance Wednesday morning in Prince Albert Provincial Court.
