Calgary Wild FC ownership changes, Alyssa Mitchell buys majority stake

Mitchell joined an ownership group of 36 investors that includes co-founder and chief executive officer Lara Murphy and board chair Deanna Zumwalt. Women hold a 76 per cent stake in the club.

Mitchell, a University of Tennessee graduate, founded the clothing brand DDAM in 2020. She was previously a strategic operations manager for the clothing line Baja East and a brand ambassador for PopSockets.

The Wild, which plays out of McMahon Stadium, went 9-14-2 in the team’s inaugural year and averaged just under 4,000 in attendance per game in 2025.

The club opened this season with two losses.

“Women’s sports are one of the most exciting and underappreciated growth opportunities in the world right now,” Mitchell said Tuesday in a statement.

“Calgary Wild FC represents everything I believe in — opportunity, resilience, ambition, and community. I’m proud to support this powerful sport movement with a club that is not only building a competitive team on the pitch but also wants to be a vehicle for positive social change and elevate a generation of female leaders off it.”

Mitchell will be the Wild’s director at NSL meetings.

“She brings an exceptional combination of global business perspective and marketing expertise with a deep passion for sport to our community,” Zumwalt said.

“Just as importantly, she adds another strong female leader to our ownership group, along with a valuable perspective that will help shape our club’s future.

“This model is not about one deep-pocketed owner, but a group of business and sport leaders contributing what they can to make our community stronger by giving young women the opportunity to soar as leaders on and off the pitch.”
