After a wake-up call of a Game 2 at home saw the series tied up, the Prince Albert Raiders travelled to Medicine Hat for Tuesday’s Game 3 against the Tigers. The Raiders outplayed the Tigers all game long, but the Tigers got a few breaks on the powerplay, and the Tigers took Game 3 in overtime 2-1.

The game started with two big penalty kills from the Raiders, and they managed to kill both off while continuing to pour pressure on offensively. Despite a powerplay that saw the big five for the Tigers stay on the ice the whole two minutes, the Raiders still managed to keep them at bay.

Then when play was reduced to 4-on-4, the Raiders opened the scoring. Aiden Oiring won the faceoff, Brayden Dube came in from the wing to help the puck back to the blueline for Daxon Rudolph, and he danced his way in from the left point for a backhand that was stopped, but he cleaned up his own rebound for his sixth of the playoffs at 15:33.

After 1: Raiders 1 – 0 Tigers, shots 13-8 Raiders

In the second period, we saw more 4-on-4 between the two teams after a scrum early in the period. The Raiders continued to put pressure on, but Jordan Switzer in net for the Tigers continued to shut the door.

On their third powerplay of the night, the Tigers scored to tie it at 16:07. After the big guns had left the ice, it was Kade Stengrim who fired a shot around a screen and managed to find the back of the net to tie the game.

After 2: Raiders 1 – 1 Tigers, shots 14-9 Raiders, 27-17 Raiders overall

The third period was the most dominant for the Raiders. One chance even saw Jordan Switzer get taken out of the net by one of his own teammates, but the Raiders couldn’t get the puck to a spot with an open look at the net in time.

The biggest moment saw Yaroslav Bryzgalov throw a hit from behind on Jonah Sivertson that was only called charging, and it knocked Sivertson to the ice in a scary moment. Sivertson left the ice as his team got their only powerplay of the game. After they failed to score, Sivertson returned later in the period in a Paul Kariya-esque moment, but the Raiders still couldn’t find a way to score.

After 3: Raiders 1 – 1 Tigers, shots 10-2 Raiders, 37-19 Raiders overall

In overtime, the Raiders got the first chance in the Tigers zone but were denied. At the other end, Andrew Basha collected a loose puck in the high slot, fired, and was stopped, but Liam Ruck found the rebound before anyone else and tucked it in at the 4:07 mark to give the Tigers the win.

FINAL (OT): Raiders 1 – 2 Tigers, shot 2-1 Tigers, 38-21 Raiders overall

The Raiders and Tigers play Game 4 on Wednesday in Medicine Hat.
