Little Tykes: 

• Non-contact, grades 1-4 
• Practices every Saturday morning from May 2 to June 13 
• $50 registration fee 

6-A-Side football 

• Pee wees grade 5 and 6 
• Bantams grade 7 and 8 
• Equipment fitting April 26 @ Crescent Heights Rink 
• Practices Monday and Wednesday starting  
• Games on Thursdays  
• Starting April 27 to June 6 
• Hosting jamboree May 31 
• $150 registration fee + $250 equipment deposit 

For the Little Tykes program specifically, it’s centered around introducing kids to football for the first time. They won’t play any games and they won’t be making hits, but instead will be learning about the fundamentals of the sport. 

“It’s a program that focuses on the individual skills required to play football, and it uses non-contact drills and games to emphasize those skills, and then we have our tackle programs.” 

This fresh batch of snow has landed on Wendell Whitter Field where the practices and games will take place, so it might feel a little early to be talking football season already. That said, the spring football program is starting a little earlier this year, but with a little help from the upcoming weather the field should be ready in time for the first practice.  

“We’d like for it to be green, but it’s very white right now and we’re hoping definitely the weather starts cooperating with our plans a little bit. We usually start a little bit later, just sometimes the way the calendar falls and obviously we were anticipating on the weather cooperating with us more, but we’re hoping we should be able to start as scheduled. Football is played in all kinds of conditions. It doesn’t necessarily have to be perfectly sunny and warm and still for us to be playing football, but we would certainly like the weather conditions to be better than what we’re experiencing right now.”
