Power outage required to facilitate upcoming highway twinning
There will be a widespread power outage later this month to facilitate the twinning of Highway 2 north of Prince Albert.
In the most recent provincial budget delivered last month, it was announced the Ministry of Highways would be twinning a six-kilometer section of Highway 2 just outside of Prince Albert.
Although a total estimated cost for construction won’t be known until a contractor is secured through the tendering process, the work is part of the $764 million allocated for improving safety and enhancing key transportation corridors.
In order for the work to proceed, SaskPower will need to relocate some infrastructure that will be affected by the highway expansion. A SaskPower spokesperson explained they’ll be moving four wooden structures and two steel transmission structures.
