Mar 27, 2026 | 2:40 PM

A man found in possession of over 1,700 images and videos related to child sex abuse material has received a prison sentence of 39 months, and following his release from custody, won’t be allowed near any schools or possess any electronic devices for a period of five years.

Tyrone Bishop appeared Friday afternoon at Prince Albert Provincial Court and was supported in the room by his parents, who were visibly emotional after hearing Judge Lubyk’s decision. Guilty pleas were entered last October to charges related to both the possession and distribution of the illicit materials.

On July 4, 2024, the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit searched a home in the Driftwood Trailer Court and examined several devices. Police found 619 unique images and 190 videos and all the victims were boys between the ages of four and 14.

After his arrest, Bishop admitted to looking at child sex abuse materials for several years.

Bishop was released on conditions and then on Aug. 22, 2024, when police officers went to check on him at his home, they discovered he was using social media. On a gaming console, they found a search history related to child sex abuse.

Bishop was arrested and released again.

In January, 2025, police received information someone was uploading child sex abuse materials to a Discord site. The information was traced to a computer in the Prince Albert area and Bishop was arrested. Through this investigation, police retrieved 467 videos and 495 images of boys between the ages of two and 14.

Crown Prosecutor Alex Boucher was seeking a four-year prison sentence, while Bishop’s lawyer argued fa two-year jail sentence was more appropriate.

In addition, to the custodial sentence, Bishop will also be on the national sex offender registry for life.

“Your criminal behavior must be denounced,” Judge Lubyk said, while encouraging Bishop to seek out programming at the federal institution.

At the conclusion of the hearing, Bishop’s father shouted out, asking if the eight month period his son was clean was for nothing. Bishop’s mother sobbed and hugged her son before he was escorted away by the Deputy Sheriffs.
