It has won awards, given millions back to the community and is considered one of the primary entertainment destinations in western Canada.

The Northern Lights Casino in Prince Albert opened in 1996. It relocated to its current Marquis Road location and has undergone a number of renovations in an effort to stay new and modern for its million plus guests who visit each year.

The casino boasts over 525 slot machines, the excitement of 11 live table games, a restaurant and lounge.

“I think that we're totally the entertainment hub,” said marketing co-ordinator Paul Lomheim who highlighted their Starlight Lounge stage, which has been named nightclub of the year at the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards in each of the last three years.

The casino is one of the city's largest employers with more than 400 employees and has donated millions back to the community, Lomheim said.

Plus 25 per cent of all profits go back into the community.

The money is dispersed by the Northern Lights Community Development Corporation, which has handed out more than $50 million to various organizations and causes.

The casino is also a major sponsor of the Children's Haven and cultural events including the annual Thanksgiving pow wow.
